From a repair workshop to a global player - it is one of those success stories of how BROCK Sweeping Technology Co., Ltd., once specialized in repairs and spare parts sales for refuse trucks and sweepers, has become the leading supplier of special sweeping machines worldwide.
On 01.03.1993 Ingo Nowakowski and Roland Lorenz, two colleagues from the Ruhr area, founded the Lorenz and Nowakowski Sweeping Technology Co., Ltd. - today's BROCK Sweeping Technology Co., Ltd. The ambitious technicians quickly realized that they wanted more than just repairing machines and making and selling spare parts. Already in 1996, they opened their first factory in Bochum, where from then on sweepers of the 7m3 class were manufactured. The product range expanded rapidly and it became clear that it needed unique features and specialized machinery to be able to play in the Champions League. In addition to the production of sweepers for road construction, the focus was on special sweepers and sweepers with individual customer solutions. This niche occupation in the market has made BROCK unique and strong.
In 2006, the move from Bochum to Witten took place in new production facilities with a larger operating area of 5000 m2. Sales also rose to over 14 million euros. Due to the continuously increasing order situation, more space was needed again. In 2009, an additional site in Witten with 6500 m2 of production space was added. At this site, Plant 2, today the agile compact sweepers are manufactured and maintenance and repairs are carried out. The production of the steel components, the sweeping units and the large sweeping machines is located in plant 1. In addition to the site changes, there were also personnel changes. At his own request, Roland Lorenz left the company in mid-2008. Half a year before that, Thorsten Laß took over his position in the management to continue the operational business seamlessly and successfully.
The history of BROCK is marked by changes, many ups and downs, but one constant - growth.
Until 2016, BROCK Sweeping Technology Co., Ltd. was always able to manage its growth safely on its own. However, with Ingo Nowakowski's wish to withdraw from the company, another possibility was considered to compensate for this loss for the company, while at the same time addressing the renewed capacity expansion and securing market position through innovation.
At the end of a focused bidding process, a suitable strategic partner could be found. Foton Germany Construction Machines GmbH impressed with a combination of understanding of the company BROCK and its market, attractive takeover structure and convincing growth prospects.
With this merger at the end of 2016, BROCK Sweeping Technology Co., Ltd. has remained faithful. It continues to pursue its core competence, which has been in existence for a quarter of a century, to develop individual solutions for its customers' cleaning work, coupled with low-emission and high-performance drive concepts. And so not only is the promise "BROCK remains BROCK" held by the new managing director Manfred Lenhart, but BROCK is also getting better.
